- [Narrator] Selling a book or ebook can sometimes involve a variety of players. For print books especially, trading partners need to know whom they can contact to obtain copies of your book. This information is transmitted in the supply details section in ONIX. Typically this supplier information is either the publisher themselves or their distributor. The distributor is often called the vendor of record. If you use a vendor of record, you should provide this information to your trading partners. In addition to the contact information for the vendors of record, each supplier element contains information about the returns policy as seen on line 454, product availability, line 458, and pricing information, line 459 for the books supplied by that vendor. Because a publisher can have different distributors serving different markets with a full list of prices at different types and currencies, this section in an ONIX file has the potential to get pretty big.
