While the desk top version of the Adobe Content Viewer is a good way to check out your work, there's no substitute for testing on a device. Now earlier on I did mention that were some platform specific features in Digital Publishing Suite and the one I'm about to show you is one of them. This is called preview-on-device. And, it involves hard-wiring your Mac and your iPad together, just using the USB cable that comes with the iPad. And, I have the Adobe Content Viewer installed on my iPad.
And I'm just going to tap to open that up. And, it's going to open to the library view. I'm going to leave that open in the library view because this is a requirement to get this feature to work. If your iPad settings for auto lock are at say, two minutes, you're going to probably want to change that because this feature is only going to work if the library view is open on the Adobe Content Viewer. So with that done I'm going to go back to InDesign.
And I'm going to open the Folio Builder. I've got my folio selected and when I come down to the preview. In fact I'm going to make this a little easier for you to see. I'm going to pull this panel out and I'm going to click on Preview. And you'll notice I have a second choice here now for the iPad. And I'll click on that. I'm going to go back to the iPad. It'll take a moment or two, and all of the content will be transferred over to the iPad. And you'll see that I can now navigate through the entire folio.
Up and down, left and right. I can tap anywhere where there's no interactivity and that's going to bring up the menus on the top and the bottom. I can now scroll through the bottom by tapping on the little icon at the bottom and scrubbing through and I can see each of the articles as I go left and right. I can just tap any one of these pages now, and I'll just tap on the Our Campus page, and that'll take me back there. And I can go back. I can tap again and go back to the library, and that's it.
As you can see, previewing on a device will allow you to test all aspects of your folio including navigation, swiping. And, once we start using them, some of the interactive functions of your folio.
