- When I first learned about distributed teams I was super skeptical. I was so locked into my traditional mindset I needed to shift my thinking about what makes a team productive. Looking back it's easy for me to see five shifts that I needed to embrace in order to lead a successful distributed team. It took me years to figure this out, but my hope is that by sharing this five shifts with you you'll be able to successfully adopt a remote strategy quickly. This first shift is rethinking where your office is located. In a distributed mindset your workspace is no longer a physical place, but instead transforms into a digital platform that enables collaboration. In the same way that you would spend time with a realtor to find the right physical workspace for your team, you need to survey the market for the right digital tools that will support your remote work goals.
