What is the cloud?

- Wouldn't it be great if you didn't have to have one of these cumbersome servers just to hold some content on the web? Well, now you don't have to. (crashing) You can host your websites and apps in the cloud. In the cloud. (whooshes) But what does that mean? Let me explain. You have an online store, and that store has to live somewhere, so you put it on a server. (pops) Then your store gets popular, and suddenly your little server doesn't have enough power to actually serve all the visitors coming in, so you get more servers. And more servers. And now you have a problem. You see, most of the time you only need one or maybe two of these servers. It's only during high traffic hours you need all of them, meaning for most of the time, you're wasting resources and money running all these unnecessary servers. To solve this, you use a scalable cloud service. Rather than having dedicated servers like this, you offload your hosting to a cloud service, and say, give me only the server capacity…
