Why do performance testing?

- [Narrator] Before we go too far in this course I want to pause and reflect for a moment on why we should bother with performance testing at all. We've talked about how performance testing is about checking the responsiveness and reliability of a system, but why does this matter? Well on the stability side we can see that it would be a very bad experience for users if the servers down or unable to respond to requests. In general, stability issues manifest themselves as very bad experiences for users, and so I think we all understand the importance of not having them. I'm sure we've also all experienced the pain of using an application that's very slow to respond. It's a frustrating experience, and even if we don't end up leaving the web page or application, it certainly gives us a negative feeling towards the quality and usefulness of it.
