What to expect from this course

- Welcome incident responders. This course is designed to teach you about incident management and response, the DevOps way. To get the most out of this course, you may want to watch the course, DevOPs Foundations, here in the library. There, James Wicket and I discuss the foundations of DevOps and it's three major practice areas, infrastructure automation, continuous delivery, and reliability engineering. Our followup course, DevOps Foundations:Site Reliability Engineering talks about the operational part of DevOps. From releases to incidents to performance engineering. This course drills down deeper into the incident response part of reliability engineering that we touched on in that course. I don't cover monitoring in this course, if you want more information on monitoring, to find incidents fast in the first place, you may want to also watch, DevOps Foundations: Monitoring and Observability. But none of that's mandatory. My goal is that whether you're an IT tech, developer, operations engineer or manager, super skilled in DevOps or new to tech, this course can help you understand how to handle the unexpected crises that come up around information systems. At my place of work, we train everyone because we rely on everyone, from customer support to engineers to product marketing folks to participate in all of the end-to-end activities required for an organization to gracefully handle issues that affect our customers. This course should have something for you, whether you're an engineer with years of experience of on-call to fix technical problems, or someone who needs to participate in incidents, purely from a process standpoint. There's also some additional information and links you might find helpful in a course handout, available on the course page. Now, let's continue on to the incidence response process.
