- [Instructor] When people think of the traditional model of developing products, it's often the waterfall model that comes to mind. In this style of management, the entire process is serial and each stage happens with gates and requirements being passed. While many fault the slow format of the waterfall methodology it does align well with the SDLC stages and this is why it continues to get a lot of use. In the waterfall model each step is clearly defined and there are milestones that need to be passed for the project to progress. This linear model means that for one phase of the SDLC to be started, the prior one must be completed. Project managers operating with a waterfall team place a lot of emphasis on preparation and it usually encourages the test team to become involved early and heavily.
