Technical interviews

- If you're an experienced developer you've probably gotten that email or call asking you to interview a potential new member of the team. It's not a fun message to receive. You'd rather be writing code or designing APIs. But someone needs to find out if a candidate is a fit for your team. Human Resources people are rarely able to do it. It's also a matter of self-interest. You don't really want to work with a subpar developer, do you? So on occasion you find yourself trekking down to a conference room to talk to someone you've never met, but might end up in the next desk over from you for the next several years. I'm Billy Hollis. I've done over 300 interviews for developer positions over a span of 25 years. I've been a developer, a team leader, and a manager for software development consulting companies. I've learned a lot, made mistakes, and hired some great developers. Based on that experience, I'd like to help you acquire developers who are talented, technically skilled and enthusiastic. All while still being a great fit for your development team. Those are the traits I look for, and they are probably the ones you want to look for, too. I invite you to join me for my course on LinkedIn Learning to start a journey towards better interviewing with better results.
