- Most tech panels will have interviews that will examine your coding and design skills. Since this course focuses on soft skills, I will not be offering advice on the technical aspects of the interview. That said, you will have the need and the opportunity to demonstrate your soft skills even in the technical interviews. There are several soft skills that engineers need to display on the job, and therefore, in the interview as well. Some soft skills directly compliment the technical problem solving skills. For example, can you explain your technical decisions to technical peers? Do you consider a range of solutions as you make progress or do you prioritize speed over durability? Do you consider that technical decisions you make may have implications beyond the most immediate problem? There are other soft skills that show an understanding of how technologists work as part of a larger tech ecosystem. For example, are you open to constructive feedback?
