- If you've decided to stay with the same career, your current contacts are going to be helpful. Take some time out to list all of them and connect to them on LinkedIn, if you haven't already. Perhaps there are some you haven't seen or spoken to in some time and you may feel guilty about getting in touch now that you need them. Try not to feel awkward about approaching them. When you do get in touch, be upfront with them. Don't try to hide your reason for reconnecting with them. Be honest and transparent about your motive. Chances are the same thing has happened to them at some point in their career too. After you tell them what you're looking for, ask them for specific ideas of who they know who might be able to push you along the way towards finding a new role.
