- One of the biggest mistakes you can make when writing your resume is to list your work responsibilities and forget to state the impact you had on the success of a project. Recruiters are looking for you to tell them the direct outcome you had on the success of a project and the impact it had for the customer or the company. They want to see the value you brought to the table. Simply stating your work responsibilities gives the recruiter no context as to whether you achieved your goals. You should focus on the impact over the outcomes. If you have data to accompany your stated impact, you should include those. Demonstrating the monetary or performance impact you had on a project goes a long way in the eyes of a recruiter. We can use the following template to create meaningful impact statements.
