- Let's talk about one of the toughest tasks that can come up in an interview. - So, did I get the job? - Naturally, a candidate wants to know whether they landed the job. At the very least, they want to know if they're still in the running. This is a final interview and it's gone quite well, you can say something like, "You're a very good candidate for this position. "Of course I need to consult with others "before a final decision is made." Be careful though, if they're really good remember they have other opportunities. Leaving them dangling for too long might mean you lose them. If there's any significant possibility they won't get the position, you should be noncommittal. You could say something like, "I'm impressed with your qualifications, "but we still need to look at some more candidates. "You'll be hearing from us soon."
