- In a co-located model, people come together into the same physical space, usually an office. Interactions are more ephemeral, existing for just a moment. Think about the water cooler or the break room. Conversations happen around the office and information tends to live in people's heads. New people who enter the team will rely on physical interactions with other team members to gain context and get up to speed. Co-located teams tend to work especially well for groups that need to interact with the same physical materials to do their job, are highly interdependent so what one person does impacts another person's work and they operate with more ambiguity or complexity. This is why so many incubator and accelerator programs requires participants to share the same physical space. Startups have a lot of ambiguity, complexity and interdependencies.
