- Remote working has gained in popularity over recent years because it provides a myriad of benefits to both the workers and their employers. Some of these benefits include cost savings, increased productivity and efficiency, and higher engagement and job satisfaction. Let's dive into those in a bit more detail. First, let's look at cost savings. For this, the most concrete numbers come from Stanford researcher Nicholas Bloom. In his experiment, he took a group of 500 qualified workers in a travel agency. Half of them worked from home four days per week, and the control group continued to go into the office. After nine months, they were able to glean some measurable data, including saving $2,000 per year, per employee on office space, which adds up.
