Rational Unified Process: Overview

- [Instructor] Rational Unified Process, or RUP, was an attempt to come up with a comprehensive iterative software development process. RUP is essentially a large pool of knowledge. RUP consists of artifacts, processes, templates, phases, and disciplines. It has detailed documentation, guidelines, sample artifacts, and deliverables. RUP is defined to be a customizable process that would work for building small, medium, and large software systems. Since the process is customizable, you can choose what you want, and also customize your process with what are known as plugins. RUP has a fascinating history. This is not a course on RUP, so don't worry if you're not familiar with these terms. We will just skim the surface of RUP so we can learn something from it.
