- [Jonathan] So, how can you never let this happen to you again? The reality is there is no magical full-time role in technology which is guaranteed. What can help is to change the way you think about your career. We always think of careers in terms of moving from full-time job to full time job. Instead, start thinking in terms of being self-employed. Now, I don't mean that in a working for yourself sort of way. What I'm getting at is taking responsibility for yourself, your skills and having the mindset of a problem-solver. If there's a problem and someone is willing to pay for a solution, then learn the skills to be part of the solution. In the tech industry, the problems are changing all the time, and that's one of the reasons why we spent so much time looking at the industry trends at the start of this course.
