- [Instructor] We can easily get caught spending a lot of time defining, tracking and analyzing metrics. This is ineffective and can raise more questions rather than help us direct our efforts and attention on the most pressing issues with our software delivery and operations. So don't measure everything. Focus instead on a small set of meaningful metrics. We should avoid going down the rabbit hole trying to extract all possible data if we don't really know how it will help us. The more metrics we collect, the more our attention disperses and the harder it is to analyze the results. Instead, start by focusing on a few key areas to measure. At the very least, look at these three. Speed, operability and quality of our software. Quality can be further split into two.
