- [Instructor] All right. Now we're going to get into the nitty-gritty of performing an incident postmortem. The first key to making a postmortem effective is a single, clear document that describes the incident. Make sure that everyone can contribute to the data collection at this stage in order to conduct a postmortem and then read afterwards to gain a common understanding of the learnings of the postmortem. I've provided a completed postmortem in the course handouts covering the example we'll use in the next couple videos. Feel free to download it and follow along as we go. The best way to keep this document is in a manner that everyone can read and edit it: a wiki, Google Doc, or other collaboration solution. Make a list of everyone who participated in the incident or otherwise has relevant information. They should contribute to the write-up and then attend the postmortem meeting you'll eventually have.
