- [Instructor] Definitions are really hard. I'm not sure how Noah Webster did it when he made a dictionary, but I find that it's very difficult to define what exactly is meant by the term. One reason for this is that different people hear and think of different things when they hear the term. In this course, we're going to be talking about exploratory testing. When we talk about a term like that, it has many different definitions. For example, in one definition that James Bach used to use, he says that it is simultaneous learning, test design and test execution. Another definition given by Cem Kaner says that exploratory software testing is a style of software testing that emphasizes the personal freedom and responsibility of the individual tester to continually optimize the value of her work by treating test related learning, test design, test execution, and test result interpretation as mutually supportive activities…
