From the course: Women Transforming Tech: Building Your Brand

Evolving your personal brand

(upbeat music) - Pushing oneself out of the comfort zone can absolutely do wonders to your personal brand. For me personally, as I was taking on you know, highly visible projects or talking at a conference, that was something I felt it was out of my comfort zone, but as I started doing that earlier on in my career, first thing I did was it boosted my confidence, and it truly led to self discovery of what I enjoy doing in life. I loved you know, connecting people, building teams, and this was not something came naturally to me, I did stubble, but as I was achieving those things, it gave me immense satisfaction and truly like to as I said, the self discovery of what made me happy at the end of the day. From a diversity and inclusion perspective you know, talking at conferences or doing round tables, that's something I was very passionate, but I was also an introvert and coming out and going into this conferences, made me believe that if I did that, I was able to drive something I was deeply passionate about and deeply something I cared about. When I was a new mom and I was actually being asked to take on a management role which actually I declined for the first two months and then my management was persistent and I finally took on that role, but in that role juggling priorities was something very new to me, it meant to build grit or have the courage and resilience and that was so important, but this is what helps me stretch my story, because I was open to take risk, I was not afraid to learn new things, and as I was you know, looking into new career opportunities, I used this story this narrative, to further enhance my personal brand. Throughout my career after that moment, I was also a change agent in many many companies, and that I used it to build my personal brand, you know, driving the change and you know, transforming organizations, building teams from ground up, using the power of connections and building those relationships. All that those experiences and reflections that became part of my personal brand as I was you know, growing in my career. You can absolutely evolve your personal brand, as your experiences, your expertise and achievements changes over time. (soft music)
