- [Instructor] Inclusivity also means looking past prestigious labels. Managers often struggle with that. When some managers staff their teams, they want to make sure that they hire rockstars. People who have gone to amazing colleges, people who have cool internships, have published in high profile journals, et cetera. This creates an interesting challenge when it comes to how you prioritize education on the one side, and life experience on the other. Let me explain. When you hire people who went, for example, to MIT or prestigious Ivy league colleges, you are getting, in some cases folks who did very well on their SATs or their GREs, people who took hard classes, people who got amazing internships, or who work with other smart people. Now this may not be true in every case, but that is the general perception of what you get when you hire people from smart colleges. This phenomena reminds me of what my debate coach…
