- When you work on a globally-distributed team, you will often face challenges with communicating across timezones. Not being in the same location as your teammates forces you to rely on asynchronous means of communication. This type of communication lacks the typical non-verbal cues that help us to determine when someone is confused, disagrees, or feels uncomfortable with a decision. What's more, feelings of isolation are very common, as you don't get to have consistent, in-person contact with your coworkers. And this can easily snowball into having a general lack of trust among members of the team. To combat these potential pitfalls of working on a distributed team, you and your company need to be dedicated to establishing clear guidelines for how the team works together.
