(upbeat music) - [Instructor] All right, it's time for a challenge in documenting an incident on your own. I've provided a bunch of raw materials for you to use in constructing an incident description and timeline, as well as a template for you to use when writing up your incident. This is a slightly fictionalized version of a real incident that my friend Karthik, who was my co-author for the DevOps Foundation's Lean and Natural course worked on. He's a developer who was asked to change the production database passwords on the systems running the website for his company, Red30 Technologies, and despite being careful, things went wrong, and an outage resulted. Joe, an operations engineer, was paged and worked the incident. The website is used by customers to browse and purchase parts and get support, and by internal employees to research parts and support customers. The system is a reasonably typical three tier website.…
