(upbeat music) - Hi, I'm Syamla Bandla. I'm a Director of Production Engineering at Facebook, and I'm responsible for Facebook's ads, marketplace, and business platforms. Having a personal brand, for a woman early in her career, can absolutely help her. Even though for me it was an organic discovery of what motivated me, what my strengths were, and that became my personal brand. But as I was discovering those, it opened up an all new set of opportunities for me. So the most important thing for me was whatever task I took, whether it was on my personal life or whether it was on the professional front, I believed in giving my best shot. That was very important for me. I was always curious. I was open. I was put in situations where I was so open that I was open to be uncomfortable. I strongly believed in building relationships. And through the power of connections and I felt that those relationships, early on in my career where I felt comfortable, where I could seek for guidance, where if I made mistakes I could go back and have those conversations, I think that kind of helped me to evolve my personal brand. So to me personal brand of an individual is based on his or her competencies, strengths, achievements, expertise, passion, even background. And just not an individual's organization, but it could be in the community as well as in the industry. Now when I coach and mentor young women in their career, I push them build your own story. Whether it's from your successes or whether it's from your failures. Build your story and use it for your advantage to move your career forward. Building a personal brand is not a one-time thing. It is a journey. It needs updates, and it needs redefining from time to time. And I challenge you, I encourage you, to take time to build your personal brand.
