- [Instructor] Let's talk about how we can automate real physical Android devices and why we might want to. So far in this course, we've been happily using Android emulators and iOS simulators. We can also run tests on real physical devices like phones and tablets. Why might we want to do this? The first and most important point is that users of your app are not using simulators and emulators. They're using the physical phones that they bought and carry around with them every day. If you're not testing real devices, you will lack confidence that your tests are really good tests at the end of the day. Another reason to use real devices is speed. Real devices have their own hardware and tests often run faster on real devices than on virtual devices. One important aspect of testing today is testing not just the functionality but the performance of the app, and obviously testing the performance of a virtual device…
