- [Instructor] Although our server is created, it can't hear any requests yet, because we haven't opened up a port for the server to receive requests. Think of it like this, let's say you've perfected a sandwich recipe, and you are ready to serve your sandwich to others in your restaurant. You've gathered the ingredients, but your shop isn't open for business yet. Now it's time to open up the shop and make the server listen for requests. A server listens for incoming traffic on a port, and this port is just a number. Traffic comes into ports and traffic goes out of ports. The server is listening for requests that come in on a specific port number. Let's say your restaurant is now open for business. Usually in a restaurant, there is one front door where visitors can request to be seated for their meal. A given restaurant has one address where people can come in and sit down to eat a meal.
