- [Instructor] Depending on how many users are accessing your application, you may need more servers to serve your clients. You also might want a backup server always running ready to accept more traffic. To add more servers to your infrastructure, you'll need a load balancer. A load balancer will help distribute the traffic between your servers so one server isn't overloaded. You can think of it as a computer that helps spread the traffic between your other servers. These servers can be in a single availability zone or across multiple availability zones, but these servers should be in the same region, and your load balancer will be in that region as well. This means if you have servers in US West 2 that you want to use a load balancer with, your load balancer should also be in US West 2.
