A roadmap for vector building
in the analog stages drawing out your design and refining its shape and form is now going to pay off and facilitate your vector-building in Illustrator. In this movie, we'll see how a tight refined sketch is vital in creating illustrative design. In other words, precise vector artwork. So we've drawn out this design that's just a random character and I'm going to lock the layer and on a layer above it, we're going to start building our vector shapes. Once again, I have some pre-set sizes for building vector shapes and we'll go ahead and select the 0.75 points to create with and we're going to zoom in 'cause all we're going to build here is just part of his head. That's where we're going to start, so we'll grab the Pen tool and we'll just start building and we're going to create his ear, and once again, when I build my initial shape, the initial artwork, in this case his head, I'm not worrying about the curves and getting those all precise at this point.
