- To get the most out of this course, you don't need to have a background in motion graphics design. Think of this course as a good starting point. There are plenty of other LinkedIn Learning Courses that will show you how to master the software to create type in motion. These are great How To courses. This course is different, it will clarify your planning process, and strengthen your creative process. I want to help you find ways to tell your story with type in motion. We'll look at best practices and timeless typographic principles, before you invest your time in learning the software you'll need to accomplish your goals. I have a lot to show you, the examples in this course are from top motion graphics designers. At studios like Pentagram, Imaginary Forces, and Eight and a Half design. They offer practical guidance using real projects, these aren't what I call pie in the sky, fine art motion graphics involving type in motion. I've chosen them because they demonstrate clear, strong storytelling using type in motion. Some include live action, some include graphics, all use great typography. The examples in this course are in use and are useful. Like this title sequence from Maya & Marty, which integrates imagery and type in motion, to establish a playful mood while conveying information. (playful music) Or this familiar opener. (energetic music) As you plan your own type in motion project, you might find that you don't necessarily need special effects to tell a great story with type in motion. There are times when special effects can be just what you need, but don't forget that typography can speak volumes on its own. Who knows, by watching this course, I might save you hours of unnecessary production time, by streamlining your project. I'll give you some guidelines on how to make the best choices for your project using timeless principles of good typography, plus simple tips and techniques. Type in motion is an essential component of today's overall design practice. Type is everywhere, type is powerful, type is beautiful. And there is no better way to tell your story than by incorporating type in motion.
