- Let's talk about when you first meet a prospect. What are the questions you shouldn't be asking? Creatives often utilize initial contact with a new prospect as an opportunity to download a ton of information that may not be necessary at that early stage in building a new relationship. Navigating or even leading these conversations can be tricky, as it's always a good balance of what to ask and what not to ask and why. The default for some designers is to spend much of the time with prospects talking about themselves or trying to sell their services. Others develop most of the time asking the prospect questions that relate to uncovering what creative or business problems need to be solved. I do understand these types of questions communicate a designer's value and expertise and demonstrates a curiosity of the prospect's business challenges.
