Types of design projects
- [Instructor] Your design process, and the challenges that come with it, will vary based on your particular circumstances. But roughly speaking, there are three categories. The first is refinement of an existing system, without any radical changes. The second is when no application exists, so you're designing all of it, including the interface, from scratch. This includes new mobile applications, for example, along with applications that are automating some sort of existing manual process. The third, and probably the most common, is a blank paper redesign of an existing application. This one usually gives you the most challenges. The principles and processes that we've talked about in this course apply to all three. But there are some variations in how your project tends to work, and the time it tends to take.
