Sketching is the core technique
- [Instructor] Next, we're going to talk about coming up with ideas for designs, which is often called ideation. This is what a lot of people consider to be design. It's also arguably the part that's the most fun. In fact, playfulness is considered by many people to be essential to this aspect of design. Later, I'll tell you what John Cleese, founding member of Monty Python, thinks about normal people like you doing design and why playfulness is an important part of it. We've looked at the first phase of the design process, including things like observing users and creating our punch list of tasks. Now, we're ready to move to the second major phase. This design phase has an optional first step. If the project is important and leading edge, then it's a good idea for the design team to take a few hours and discuss new technologies and radical approaches. This is called visioning.
