- If you were asked to hand write a letter on a piece of notebook paper, that would be pretty familiar. You could predict the feel of the pen in your hand, the natural angle you'd position the paper, the way the ink flowed onto the page, the scale and spacing of your letters. It would be second nature, comfortable. But what if I asked you to write a letter on a mango? Probably something very few of us have actually done before. It's a new starting point, uncharted territory. I think that interacting with new starting points and navigating the textures and challenges that each one presents makes us more versatile in the face of unexpected prompts. We can be ready for anything. When asked to start a project in an unfamiliar way, many of us pull back. It makes us feel uneasy.
