- In terms of being the source of creative ideas, we give the conscious mind far more credit than it deserves. In truth, only about 4% of the brain is in charge of conscious thought. The other 96% is subconscious and is the true source of our potential for unlimited creative output. Much of the time, we believe creativity to be this illusive thing that we need to seek, chase after, or reach for. Even though it seems counter intuitive, we can actually put our seemingly inaccessible subconscious to work for us to produce creative ideas and solutions. When our brains are relaxed, we naturally enter into a creative problem solving mode where connections, associations, and ideas flow easily. So, how can we capitalize upon the time when our brains are the most easily creative and new mental associations and ideas are the most easily accessible?
