- [Instructor] Hi, I'm Rayce Bird. Concept artist, creature creator, and season two winner of Syfy's Face Off. Thanks for joining me as we explore texturing and shading with Adobe Photoshop. In this course, we are going to add all sorts of coloring, textures, and shading to a drawing I made of a young knight proudly guarding his castle. First we'll set up an artboard in Photoshop and import all reference images and texture files into our scene before we explore texturing and shading techniques. After that I'll introduce you to the concept of material shaders and how simplifying these concepts can help us as we move forward in this process.
Next we'll construct foundational colors and textures underneath our line work to create local color flats. Then we'll move into base highlights and shadows as we explore the concept of ambient inclusion, main light sources, and cast shadows. Finally, we'll add some extra details, more refined material attributes, and a simple background to finish off our little knight friend and his wooden castle. Now let's get going here and bring some life into our scene.
