- A key obstacle to accessing your creative power for many people, people don't leave time for self reflection. They don't leave time to ask themselves what's important to them, and maybe even write things down. So journaling is an incredible way to access your inner thoughts, and just really help you be in the moment. And being in the moment is critical in terms of creating work with meaning, and work that really connects to who you are. There was a time in my life when, and it still happens, when I, a couple years ago I was super busy. I was teaching a couple of different colleges, and I was commuting a lot. And I just started to feel this slickness start to happen. And I felt ungrounded. And I thought, "What could I do?" it was coming upon New Year's, and I thought, "What could I do to help me anchor?" and I used to be a big journaler, but I was bored with writing so much, so I decided on New Year's that year that I would write a haiku a day for 365 days.
