- [Instructor] That fuel tank in the previous sketch is an example of innovation during storyboarding. A team member was thinking about the most important information a user needed and fuel-on-hand was one such piece of information. He included a sketch of tank in one design and everyone on the team immediately liked it. The old application just had a text field that showed the percent full. That was functional, but it didn't really reach the power of the visual system to use color and shape to grasp the meaning of the quantity faster. The innovation of the fuel tank meant a user could quickly glance over all locations for a customer and intuitively see which tanks were very low on fuel. Later refinements added tanks with different shapes for different types of fuel, and a symbol that indicated when the tank had a wireless gauge that gave up-to-the-minute readings of fuel levels.
