- While there is no magic number, I will discuss nine steps to help you arrive at your final fee. These steps, presented in order of priority and importance, will help you develop a price you are 100% confident with. Nourish your instinct. The more you price, the easier it gets, I promise. Just pay attention throughout your career as to how people price, and over time you'll strengthen your confidence and natural instinct. That's why you should be actively involved in our industry. Think about your value, not your hours. Always consider the end value of what you're delivering to your clients. How will your work be used and what impact does it have on your clients' businesses? For example, the price for an identity system for a small division versus the larger corporation will be completely different.
