- For the purposes of this lesson, I would like to start by defining what a proposal is. A proposal is a document issued by a creative team or designer in response to a prospect's formal or informal request, or interest in working with them on a future relationship, initiative, or project. Before I talk about what content to include, which I outline in my next lesson, "Content Strategy for an Impactful Proposal," I'd like to introduce you to some guiding principles I have. First, proposals are not your primary qualification and marketing tool. You should really have built a personal relationship with the client, one-to-one, in previous in-person meetings and have built the love and trust. The prospect should already have seen your website or your work, met you in person, and are certain you are the right firm for their needs.
