- It's important to understand four rather well-known yet simple methods for qualifying new business. Focusing on three to four general criteria, the methods will be easy to use for emerging designers. The first method, the good, fast and cheap model, focuses on three criteria that look at speed and cost as well as quality, which is highly subjective. And the second method is the fun, fame and fortune model which focuses on prestige, excitement and cost. In these two methods, you essentially evaluate the work by ensuring that the relationship fits two of the three criteria. But do you really want to do work that is fast or cheap? Both will sacrifice quality and result in stressful relationships with your clients and staff alike. For example, what is fun for some may not be fun for others.
