Energize your typography by adding motion

- Type in motion is one great way, maybe the very best way, that we designers can tell a story. I'm Ina Saltz and I'd like to welcome you to Typography: Type in Motion. This course is a great introduction to planning a project that uses typography in motion. This course will walk you through how to choose the best typefaces for your story and when to make those typefaces come alive with movement, pacing, and animation to create just the right effect and evoke just the right mood. (logo roaring) We'll cover designing type in motion for different screen sizes and making sure your type is powerful through size, weight, and contrast. And we'll talk about when you may need special typographic effects and when straight-up typography may be the best choice. I've designed this course to have some great typography tips for experienced motion graphics designers. And for motion graphics beginners, this course is a terrific first step before you delve into a software-based course to start your first type in motion project. This course is about the why of type in motion, why you should choose certain typefaces when using type to send your message, and why you should animate the typography in a specific way. We'll look at ways to transition into and out of the screen for maximum effect. At the end of the day, remember that it's all about storytelling, about reaching the hearts and minds of your viewers. If you've seen my other LinkedIn Learning courses on typography or if you're already a designer with a working knowledge of typography, you know that you're in good hands. I'm passionate about letter forms. For more than 30 years, I've been deeply involved in the world of type. I live, eat, and breathe typography. So join me on LinkedIn Learning as we dive into Typography: Type in Motion.
