Designing your culture

Designing your culture

(cheerful instrumental music) - Culture is an important component of any company. In fact, I would argue that it may be the most important. We can get inspired, we can learn how to upgrade our skills, but if we are not purposely designing culture or helping to create the right culture, we're missing out on our best work opportunities. Workplace culture is the manifestation of a company's beliefs and values. It ultimately becomes a definition of how we do things around here. Basically, if your culture is off, if you're not hiring specifically for culture fit, or if you're not actively designing the different dimensions of your culture, your growth potential is limited. This includes your ability to create your best work. When the design process is part of your culture creation, it helps you figure out what your organization stands for, and helps to make decisions based on those values. Think design doesn't fit in your business model? Think again. (gentle instrumental music)
