In this installment of Magazine Design Start to Finish, learn how to design the interior pages of your magazine, from the masthead and contents page to unique feature layouts.
- Welcome to part two of our Magazine Design course here on LinkedIn Learning. I'm John McWade, and I've been designing magazines my entire career. A magazine is a unique product. It's a fully curated experience comprised of many stories and voices on a single topic. This time, we're designing the inside pages. And where the cover is set in expectation, along with the mood, the tone, and the vibe of the magazine, the inside delivers on those expectations.
To do that, we'll be designing pages that repeat in every issue, as well as those one-of-a-kind features that come and go. And I'll take you with me through the process, each iteration, all the trial and error, explaining my thinking as I go. Your magazine will be different from this one. What I hope is that you'll take away principles, techniques, and a general understanding of how to approach design to get the results you want, a beautiful magazine that's engaging, delightful, and even elevating, a rich experience for both you and your audience.
