Dear client

- Hello there, my name is Bonnie Siegler, and I'm thrilled to welcome you to this course about working with people in creative professions. I thought of calling it How To Talk So Clients Will Listen And Listen So Designers Will Talk. That's really the crux of the difficult relationships we all have with our counterparts. Ironically, design is about communication, but the trickiest part is not solving the problem at hand, but the relationship at hand. There is lots of information and lots of books out there to help designers work better with clients, but none for the clients. So I decided to write that book. It's called Dear Client, and I did this because I wanted to give my most frustrating clients the benefit of the doubt and assume they had never learned about the care and feeding of us creative people. I think some of the problems may simply come from them not knowing exactly how to work best with and get the best work out of creative people. This information can also be helpful to designers in a couple of ways. First of all, it validates their feelings with their own frustrating experiences, but it can also serve to guide them in teaching their clients. I will walk you through information to consider before hiring a designer, financial considerations, working with designers, what about when it's not working, and what happens after the job is done. Hopefully, incorporating this information will help your business, not only by saving you money and freeing up your time, but by getting you better results. And just between us, it will also keep your hair from turning gray and reduce the risk of heart attacks.
