- Now that you understand how to qualify clients, I challenge you to develop your own crystal ball. Start with developing specific and measurable criteria that you can use to predetermine which new prospects or projects are worth writing proposals for. So here are a couple of options. You can pause this video and work on your own criteria or work along with me. In thinking about your own personal crystal ball, let's review a checklist of some important areas you should have covered to make it as effective as possible. Do you have no less than seven and no more than 10 categories? Can you determine the answers to all the categories based on what you currently know about the prospect and project? Are most, if not all, of the categories measurable and objective? Only one or two should be subjective. If not, how can you make them more measurable? Did you include pricing parameters?
