- What happens when we're asked to generate variations from a seemingly uninspiring subject? Maybe you're prompted to write an article about something you've always considered boring. It's hard to fake inspiration. I've found that although on the surface, many things may not seem compelling at first, if you sit with it a while and search for another way to see it, another way in, unexpected beauty can be revealed. I'm always looking for new, fresh ways to approach things. For instance, if individual drawing a piece of fruit sort of mundane. It isn't my go-to subject matter. It's a closed shape without a whole lot of interest for me. When I have a clementine sitting in front of me, I have to ask myself how can I engage with this in a new way, make it exciting.
