- Knowing what to include and what not to include in a successful proposal is critical. Creatives must learn to look at the content of their proposals with a strategic and an editor's eye. Whether you call it a proposal, a statement of work, or an estimate, the document should do all it can to ensure you are selected. You must have an attached cover letter. This is not the e-mail but is instead part of the proposal. It simply reiterates your excitement for the project and a brief statement of why you're perfect for the relationship. The two most important, and often neglected, sections in a proposal include: A list of project components which includes a detailed description of the specific tangible deliverables the client will receive at the end of the relationship, including all necessary specifications that impact price.
