- I always love to learn from people's mistakes and lucky for you, I've seen them all. Here are just a few of the more common ones that most creatives make in their proposal. Often, the proposal is overly generic and not customized for the client or project and lacks a personal voice. The proposal should sound like it's from your firm and written to the client, plain and simple. It's a conversation, but in written form. If you are snarky or humorous, your proposals can have some of that too. I give you permission to just be you. They will love it. And if they don't, then that in itself is a red flag about the future relationship you may have. Just do you. Another mistake I see is that there is too much about us content and not enough about the client or project. I've seen a lot of redundant and conflicting information. For example, I've seen many proposals that indicate number of revisions inside the scope of work section which is great, but then the proposal goes one unnecessary step…
