- [Nigel] Hi, I'm Nigel French. Welcome to Type Tips. This week, I'm in Illustrator and I'd like to show you how I created this poster that combines very clean, very simple sans serif type with an image and the image is abstracted by having it be seen through these diagonal windows. This is the starting point. First thing I want to do is create a clipping mask that will crop the image to the page. I'm using an A4 page, so I'll choose my rectangle tool. Just click onto the page and type in the dimensions of an A4 page, 210 x 297 millimeters. Come to the Transform panel, make the X and Y coordinates both zero and then down at the bottom-center of the Layers panel, click on Make or Release Clipping Mask. Now I want to draw those diagonal boxes on top the image that will function as the windows. Because I want to draw them at a 45 degree angle, I'm going to come to my Preferences, General, and set the Constrain Angle to 45 degrees. In my Guides…
