Beyond storyboarding: Wireframing and illustration

- [Instructor] Once you have some promising designs from storyboarding, hopefully more than one, it's time to refine them and add detail. There are two basic techniques for that. The typical business application uses wireframing, which lets you get pretty specific about the layout, but doesn't include a lot of look and feel. The other option is illustration, which goes deeper into look and feel. Depending on which one you need to do, some kind of software tool will be needed. One of the major wireframing tools is Balsamiq, although there are quite a few. Illustration tools tend to be programs that are also used for detailed graphical work, such as Photoshop, or Illustrator. So, which one should you choose? That depends on what kind of software you're doing. Typical development teams for corporate apps, will probably prefer wireframing. The cosmetics are not of major concern for these apps, and cosmetics for web apps will probably be done by a visual designer later, anyway. Companies…
